An independent look at Localo: what it does, what it costs, what users actually rate it, and how it compares with Local SEO Tool.

Pricing and ratings checked August 2026. Ratings move, so treat them as a snapshot. Where a score could not be confirmed we say so rather than estimate.

Quick verdict

Excellent for one location. Stretches at scale.

Simple, well liked and priced for one location. Localo scores extremely well with the people who use it, and those people are mostly single location businesses and freelancers. It stretches once you are running an estate or a client book, where bulk editing, portfolio views and white label reporting become the features that decide whether software is usable at all.

What is Localo?

Localo is a local SEO tool aimed at small businesses and small agencies, built around getting one Google Business Profile visible and keeping it that way.

It is deliberately approachable. The onboarding is short, the interface is clean and it does not assume you already know local SEO, which is why the ratings are as high as they are.

It also publishes free browser tools, which is a reasonable way to try the approach before paying.

Our rating: 4.1 out of 5

Excellent verified ratings and the clearest interface for a non technical owner. Reporting is thin for agencies and estates.

This is our own assessment, not an average of user reviews. It is scored on verified third party ratings, pricing transparency, whether there is a location minimum, how much of the job one purchase covers, and what the entry price buys. The user ratings we could confirm are listed further down, with sources.

Localo features

Every feature below, and what it actually does rather than what the marketing calls it.

Position tracking

Localo tracks your map position from points around your business and plots them as a grid. The output is the familiar picture of green near the pin fading to red as you move out, which is the standard way this category presents local visibility.

The reason it matters is the same reason any grid matters. A single position tells you where you appeared at one spot on one day, and it cannot tell you whether you fade evenly with distance or stop dead at a boundary. Those two look identical from one reading and need completely different work.

What Localo does well here is presentation. The interface is one of the cleaner ones in the category and a non technical owner can read it without training, which is not true of every tool that draws a grid.

Best for: Owners who want to see their coverage without learning a reporting tool

Profile optimisation tasks

Rather than handing you an audit, Localo converts what it finds into a task list: fill this field, add these categories, upload a photo of this type. It is the same underlying check most tools run, presented as work rather than as findings.

That framing is the point. An audit listing two hundred problems is a document people close. A short ordered list is a job that gets done, and this is the single biggest reason a small business sticks with a tool past the first month.

The limitation is that it tells you what is missing, not what will move you. Completeness and ranking are related but not the same thing, and a profile can score well while sitting on the wrong primary category.

Best for: Single location owners who need to be told what to do next, in order

Post scheduling

Google posts written ahead and published on a schedule, so the profile keeps showing activity through the weeks nobody has time to think about it.

Posting is never difficult and it is almost always the first thing dropped when work gets busy. Scheduling separates the writing from the publishing, which is what stops a profile going quiet for two months after a strong start.

Best for: Businesses whose posting stops the moment they get busy

Competitor tracking

The same grid run for the businesses near you, so your coverage can be read against theirs rather than in isolation.

This is more useful than it first appears. Your own series cannot tell your decline apart from somebody else improving, and those two need opposite responses. Running a rival supplies the variable your own numbers are missing.

Best for: Working out whether a drop is you slipping or a rival gaining

Free browser tools

Localo publishes several checks that run without an account, which is how a lot of people meet the product.

Worth knowing what a free check is and is not. It answers one question once. It does not record the answer over time, and a rank series is the thing that turns a check into a measurement you can act on.

Best for: Trying the measurement before committing to anything

Reporting

Reports covering position, profile state and the tasks completed, suitable for sending to a client or keeping as a record.

Reporting is where the single location focus shows. It is adequate for one business and thin for anyone running an estate or a client book, where the useful view is every location compared on the same measures.

Best for: One business keeping a record, rather than an agency reporting to clients

Localo pros and cons

Pros
  • Very highly rated by the people who use it, with a G2 score near the top of the category.
  • Simple and quick to start with, which suits owners rather than specialists.
  • Priced for a single location rather than an estate.
  • Free browser tools to try before paying.
Cons
  • Built around a small number of locations, so it stretches once you have an estate.
  • Agency requirements such as portfolio views and white label reporting are not its focus.
  • Bulk work across many profiles is not what it is designed for.
  • Review counts are small compared with the large platforms, so the scores rest on fewer voices.

Capterra5.0 / 55 reviews

SoftwareAdviceNot foundNo published score located

The G2 score is one of the highest in this category. Read it alongside the review count. A 4.9 from 134 people is a strong signal about how it feels to use, and the Capterra 5.0 rests on five reviews, which is too few to mean much on its own.

Checked August 2026. We do not publish a score we could not confirm, which is why some rows say not found.

Local SEO Tool overview

We built Local SEO Tool because the same pattern kept repeating across this category. Features split across tiers, a location minimum that rules out smaller businesses, or a year long contract for software you wanted to try for a fortnight.

So it is one plan with all 42 tools on it, priced per location rather than per person, starting at one location, with a three day free trial and no contract. That is the whole commercial model, and it is on the pricing page rather than behind a call.

Local SEO Tool features

Six groups, 42 tools, all on the one plan.

Where we are not the answer
  • Newer than the names below, so there is less third party review history to read.
  • Not an enterprise procurement product. If you need a named account manager and a signed MSA, the enterprise vendors are built for that and we are not.

How to choose between them

  1. Check which plan holds the feature you want

Not the website. Open the pricing page and find the tier the feature actually sits on. In this category it is often not the entry one.

  2. Check the minimum and the notice period

A location minimum decides whether you can buy at all. A notice period decides how long a wrong decision lasts.

  3. Insist on trying it

A trial answers the only question that matters, which is whether your team still opens it in month three. A demo does not.

  4. Price it at double your size

Per location pricing compounds and credit models scale with use. Work out the figure at twice your current locations before signing.

Final verdict

Simple, well liked and priced for one location. Localo scores extremely well with the people who use it, and those people are mostly single location businesses and freelancers. It stretches once you are running an estate or a client book, where bulk editing, portfolio views and white label reporting become the features that decide whether software is usable at all.

If what you want is one location businesses and freelancers who want something simple. then Localo is a reasonable buy and you should go and try it.
