Worth knowing
Print size is the usual failure. A QR code smaller than about 2cm across, or printed on a glossy surface under harsh light, will not scan reliably. Test in the actual lighting where it will live.
Questions
Do QR codes expire?
The code encodes a URL, so it works as long as that URL does. Your Google review link does not change unless the profile itself is recreated.
Can I track scans?
Not from a plain QR code. If you need scan counts, route the code through a tracked short link rather than pointing it straight at Google.
Is asking for reviews this way allowed?
Yes, provided you ask every customer rather than filtering for happy ones. Selectively soliciting only positive reviews breaches Google guidelines.
